Themes

Participants may choose from the themes listed below.  Participants must choose an original slogan to catch the attention of viewers.

1)   Responsible Pet Ownership

All animals require food, water and shelter, but being a responsible pet guardian is more than just meeting their basic needs.   As responsible pet guardians, we must provide our pets with love, veterinary care (annual vet visits, vaccinations, emergency care), grooming, identification in case they are lost, restraint, exercise, companionship and training.  Dogs and cats live 10-20 years and require a commitment from their guardian to provide responsible care for them throughout their lifetime.

2)   Spay and Neuter to End Pet Overpopulation

Thousands of homeless and unwanted pets are born each year and many of those animals find their way to local animal shelters.  By promoting spaying and neutering and providing low cost spay and neuter options, we could greatly reduce the number of homeless and unwanted animals in our community.

3)  Adopt a Shelter Pet

Each year, millions of people acquire a new pet.  They may purchase an animal from a pet store or a backyard breed or they may get a pet free to good home.    Participants should focus on promoting animal adoptions from area animal  shelters in a way that would convince a viewer that great animals are available for adoption at animal shelters.

Judging

Posters will be displayed at the Tails for Trail afternoon event session at McCoy Park.  Posters will be judged on the following points:

  •     Appropriate Theme using a Positive Approach
  •     Reproducibility
  •     Appeal - Is the poster eye catching
