Pet Contests
Pet Contests will begin at 12:30. Participation in the contests is free, but you will need to enter your pet in the contest(s) that you wish to participate in. Look for the Sales and Spay/Neuter Booths to enroll for the contests listed below.
- Pet/Owner Look Alike Contest - Do you and your pet look alike? Sign up for this contest and see what the judges have to say. Costumes can be used, but natural likeness will be favored!
- Smartest Dog Contest - Is your dog smart? I mean really, really smart? Show him off and see how smart he really is compared to other contestants. Pets will perform various commands called out by the judges. Those whose dog performs the command or trick will continue on. Those that don't will be eliminated until one dog remains, earning the title of Smartest Dog in Independence.
- Musical Sit Game - Your dog will heel by your side, sitting when the music stops until only one dog remains.
- Best Costume - Dress your pet up and compete in everyone's favorite pet contest. Costumes will be judged on originality and, of course, cuteness!
- Stay Means Stay Contest - Does your dog know that stay means stay? Enter this contest to see if you dog has what it takes to win. Dogs will be commanded to sit or lay down and stay, while distractions are added and owners are asked to move further away from their dogs until only one dog remains.
